Emerson EasyHeat™ SL Thermostatic Controllers are devices for pipe freeze protection and temperature control. The SL2G and SL3 are two models within this range, with the following overview:
Primary Function: Both models control heating cables by automatically regulating power supply based on detected pipe temperatures, thereby providing frost protection or maintaining desired temperatures. Each incorporates a 10-foot (3-metre) sensor to monitor pipe temperature, activating or deactivating the cable accordingly.
Structural Design: The SL2G incorporates a built-in Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI), featuring a test/reset button and socket indicator light to ensure operational safety. The SL3 lacks an integrated GFCI; heating cables connected to the SL3 must have separate ground fault protection.
Applications: The SL2G and SL3 are suitable for residential water supply and drainage pipes to prevent freezing. The SL3 may also be used with the EasyHeat™ In-Line Self-regulating Heating System to provide freeze protection for metal or plastic pipes up to 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the SL2G and SL3 models?
The main difference is the GFCI feature. The SL2G includes a built-in Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) with a test/reset button, whereas the SL3 does not have an integrated GFCI and requires separate ground fault protection for connected heating cables.
What is the temperature range of the thermostat controllers?
Both models feature an adjustable temperature dial that ranges from +36 °F to +77 °F (+2 °C to +25 °C) to prevent freezing and control energy usage effectively.
Can these controllers manage more than one heating cable?
Yes, both the SL2G and SL3 models are equipped with two receptacles, allowing them to control two heating cables simultaneously.
How long is the sensor cord?
Both controllers come with a 10-foot (3-meter) sensor designed to accurately monitor the pipe temperature and energize the heating cable as needed.
What is the maximum electrical load for these controllers?
They operate at 120 Vac and have a maximum power capacity of 1440 Watts with a maximum current of 12.0 Amps.
